Professor Nancy IP, Founding Member of The Hong Kong Academy of Sciences and President of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology , and Professor Kathryn CHEAH, Member of ASHK and Emeritus Professor of the School of Biomedical Sciences at the LKS Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong, have been elected as Foreign Members of the Academia Europaea.
This honor recognizes Professor Ip’s outstanding achievements in the field of Basic and Clinical Translational Sciences, and Professor Cheah’s distinguished contributions to Cell and Developmental Biology, as well as their extraordinary impact on global health and well-being.
Established in 1988, the Academia Europaea is one of the world’s most prestigious and influential scientific organizations, encompassing a wide range of academic disciplines. While its members are primarily selected from among leading scholars across Europe, the election of Foreign Members is highly selective, with an acceptance rate of less than 5%. It is a profound international academic honor.
